Model 788 sn production year?

Hello I have a 788 left to me by my father, I'm trying to find out when it was made , the problem is this. I went to the Remington WS (http://www.remington.com/products/archi ... l-788.aspx) and it states the 788 in 243 was made from 1968-1980 , however the sn number on the rifle is 0637xx, according to the Remington web site its 1967 how can that be. 243 wasn't manufactured 1967...thanks in advance...

I believe you answered your question in the last post in your previous thread:

Ok I guess, so the Remington web site is incorrect with the sn. block...I assume it could be a 1967 receiver leftover and assembled in 1968...
