A couple of Remington model 14's on the way.........
In the case of the Model 14 it is the other way around. The first production had hard rubber shotgun style plates. There was a steel full rifle plate offered as an option. We don't have an exact date or serial number but sometime around 1914 the standard plate became the steel shotgun plate. The smooth full rifle crescent with the UMC logo was still an option. The standard plate was changed for a third time around 1920. This time it was to the semi crescent steel plate. This plate does not have the logo and has non slip searations running from side to side. It should also be noted that a leather recoil pad was also available as an option. The semi crescent was standard to the end of production. Good luck with your collecting.
