Re: Fully Engraved Model 1858
Hi
I ment David S French. If this gun was issued to him in the first place I cannot say. The only info I've got on the serial is that it 's in a range based on monthly deliveries to the Ordonance Department.
If this was his service revolver that someone got engraved and presented back to him or if it was ordered engraved directly from the factory I don't know. What I find a little strange is that a gun of this quality have standard wooden grips with a cartouche. Is the barrel address still there?
What price range was this gun in (hope you don't think I'm rude for asking)?
Try to contact the Anderson Zouaves - Living History http://andersonzouaves.tripod.com/livinghistory/id5.htm maybe they can help you further and I guess they are very interrested in things like this.
