Rem often produced more than their records show. Before anyone asks...I don't know why..... Several models of Rem rifles produced in the first half of the 20th Century have higher serial #s than their records show; some quite a bit higher.

My info comes directly from Rem records obtained while doing research for the Rem 22 book. I have found rifles in almost every model that varied from Rem records. I don't mean that as a slam against Rem. I believe most of the records were posted after the fact. They went to old memos, etc. and did the best they could. It wasn't easy since some of the old written info contradicted other info in the archives. That helped keeping the chase for information fun, exciting & nerve wracking...
