Sno!
They are around on the auction sites mainly Gunbroker & Ebay but you need to know what you are looking for and none of the 141 buttplates had UMC on them. Most Model 14 buttplates had the UMC logo on thme but the 141 is either made of checkered steel or checkered aluminum with "Remington" embossed in it just below the upper screw hole. The early plates were steel, the later plates were aluminum and were numbered to the rifle, the steel ones were blued, the later aluminum ones were painted more of a gloss black.
I picked up one off Gunbroker last week for $20 which included the shipping.
I will attempt to attach a picture, if successful ..... the 141 plate is on the left, the one on the right is a shotgun style steel buttplate for a Model 14 with the UMC logo on it.

Re: remington model 141 butt plate
Hey OH-6
What a nice thing to offer, these plates actually clean up nicely. If you put the steel ones on a "fine" wire wheel to clean off all the gunk......they will reblue beautifully. In the case of the aluminum ones, same procedure followed by a couple of coats of Krylon Semi-Gloss Black and they look almost like new, some prefer Gloss Black............I have seen them both ways.
Finding original & decent buttplate screws is a challenge as well, the pre war plates used a slotted head.......with a very narrow slot, I have seen post war plates with both a wider slot head and Phillips head. I have no idea why I bothered to write about this other than I'm a bit bored.
You guys behave!

Re: remington model 141 butt plate
Hey Snowy!
Those shell heads don't screw in, they are driven into place. The 141 Shell Heads did NOT have the primer, the hole was left open to double as a gas port for split rounds. I have "one" that I can sell but it is a new made replacement part and has the "primer" in it. It is all one piece of brass, if you have the talent you can drill it out if you see fit. Originals are hard to come by but you see them from time to time on the auction sites.
If you wish to purchase the "replacement" brass shell head that I have it will be $20.80 deld. in a small priority mail box...........otherwise the USPS would and could find a way to crush it. Trust me, I am not making any money on this transaction and offer it just to help out. You won't hurt my feelings if you decline the offer.
Out of curiosity, this rifle is missing the buttplate, the shell head, and at this point I'm wondering what else is missing and/or what is the overall condition of the piece??
Take care!

Re: remington model 141 butt plate
Yes, the shell head holes were not threaded........somebody screwed with it, no pun intended.
I have no idea now whether a standard shell head would fit or not, your call.
Mine were made to fit any of the standard openings, be interesting to know what the guy was trying to do............but then I have repaired guns from all over including several countries and you wouldn't believe the weird stuff I have seen. Australian modifications are still the most entertaining!
