The 742 ADL was made from 1960 thru 1963 with those game scenes on the receiver, so yearly date codes should have a 2nd letter of G, H, J or K. My own 84685 is AJ=March, 1962 production. I would think that the 123485 serial would put yours at late 1963 production. If you intend to shoot it much, I would recommend installing a new recoil spring under the forearm. They tend to weaken over time. Springs should measure 11" in length. Old ones, under tension all the time, measure less and allow the breechbolt locking lugs to hammer into the top of the receiver, eventually leading to problems.
