3rd Model 5th type (which may not agree with blue book but that's what collectors call it) also at least 15th or 16th variation ;)
1 of ~500 is correct, I have to dig records to see if there is a more definitive number, it maybe in Doug's book I don't have it in hand http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/books/Deringer as far as I know there's is one nickel which is also the last serial number L76118. Numbers are bit goofy in the end don't let that throw you I'm sure that's explained in there. I *think* Doug is a registered member of the forums and maybe he'll comment.

DO NOT mess with the box or shoot the ammo, what kind is it?
It could be QUITE valuable.

If you look at the locking lug under the barrel it's date code stamped, check the manufactures date link off the home page for explaination.
