New to the group, thanks for having me.
I acquire a Remington 700 BDL 22 " Heavy Barrel .308 Short Action
Marking on the left side of the barrel are: 8 LL 28
Marking on the right side of the barrel are: Triangle with #8 inside, Oblong Circle with REP follow by letter A and a Anchor Symbol
SN C66367XX
and I'm curious about the manufactured date and if I can change the stock to make it tactical.
I want to use it for Bench Shooting at my range, max 300 yards.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks, :D
Based on the "L L" date code and the serial number, it was made in February of 1991.

As far as changing the stock, many people re-stock their firearms. If it were me, I'd at least keep the original stock in case I wanted to change it back some day.

Why do you have to make it "Tactical" for bench shooting. Leave it alone. Wood looks nicer then any black stock you can put on it. Plus save you some money you can put toward a nicer scope or rifle rest.

IMHO a 10 power scope isn't up to par for 300 yard precise shooting. My bench guns all have 36 power scopes and defiantly not illuminated red dots. Maybe I'm old fashion. If I was wanting to be serious I would leave it alone if there are no problems. Invest in a higher powered fine cross hair scope. See how it shoots with multiple brands and weight of ammo. If there's a problem then change something.

Like I said its my opinion, but I would at least get a Leupold 6x18 40mm. That's if I was looking at 300yd average shots.
