I'm hardly the authority on Model 12's except I have a few, feel sure John Gyde will give you a comeback........he's the authority as far as I know.

I would guess your rifle was made around 1930 but there should be a letter code on the left side of the barrel right in front of the frame....should be two letters, those when translated will tell you the month/year of manufacture.

As far as value, no one can say without looking at the rifle but since it has an octagon barrel it is probably a Model 12-C with a crescent style buttplate. Condition is everything and if its 90% + it may well be worth what you paid.
Check for the barrel code and by the time you get back, someone with more knowledge may well give you a reply. I do Model 14's & 141's and little else!

I'm not quite as dumb as people thought, I was right about the year.
Your gun was assembled August 1930.
