Tonk contacted me and has sent the rifle in question to me for replacement of the magazine ring along with some cleaning! Just for the record, Model 14-1/2's utilize a magazine ring with a slightly higher elevation than those used on the rifle calibers and are marked "44" on the bottom.
The difference is ever so slight but if the standard rings made for the rifle calibers are used in both locations the magazine tube will angle upward and will almost meet the muzzle.
Magazine rings marked "44" are hard to find but I have had some luck using Model 141 rings which are hard to I.D. because they are not marked and many years ago found some after market rings with a swivel that have the proper elevation......I have but a few left.
