You need to look around the Society web site a bit more. If you pick "Manufacture Dates" and then just above the tables of the Remington date codes pick "Serial Numbers by date (factory record book)" it will take you to a copy of the old between the Wars factory ledger book. Page to page 11, and there you will find the Model 10 information.
Serial number 242685 would have been in work during April 1925. The company name on a gun of that vintage should be Remington Arms Co., Inc. and it should probably have a date code on the left side of the barrel just ahead of the receiver. I suppose there is the possibility that the gun was fitted with a barrel from inventory from before they started the date codes in 1921.
