New Model Navy

Post by winriv »

I have what I think is a New Model Navy. It has the Patented Sept 14 1858 and the Remington, Illion, NY lines on top of the barrel, but it does not say New Model on a third line like it should. It has a serial number of 23592. It also has a B stamped on the trigger guard like it should. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.

Your gun is probably a transition Model from an OLD MODEL NAVY TO A NEW MODEL and was made in mid 1863. The early ones did not show the NEW MODEL Logo. Your barrel probably has the silver cone site of the "61" Model and may still use the high spur hammer. The barrel treads should be exposed and the cylinder should have safety notches. Jay Huber RSA
