My wife has tracked my relatives and the maker of the Remington Beals was a relative.

I have been researching F Beals for many years and have some info on him but very little. Do you have a date of birth and death? Do you know where he is buried? Do you have a picture of him? I will be glad to exchange any info I have with you. Contact me direct please. Regards Jay Huber RSA
PS I have been in touch with a Patric Beals of Kalamazoo MI. who is a relative and his father but they were unable to provide any info on Fordyce.

For your information:
In the upcoming James Julia Auction (October 9th) there is a military breechloading trials carbine of Fordyce Beals coming up for sale.

It is item #351. The auction house phone number is (207) 453-7125

This is the exact carbine submitted by Fordyce Beals in the 1865 Ordnance Trials. It is the carbine pictured in the photographs taken in 1865 of all of the trials guns.

Manufactured by E. Remington & Sons, this carbine is stamped: F. BEALS on the receiver.
