Model 31 F Grade
Re: Model 31 F Grade
Congradulations, would you please post some close up photos that show the engraving on the receiver and barrel. Thanks. What is the barrel code.? It will be either a single letter or double letter code near the choke markings.

Re: Model 31 F Grade
Here are the pictures --

In my opinion that gun left Ilion as a plain Model 31A "Standard" Grade and was engraved in post-WW-II occupied German, or possibly Japan, was fairly nicely restocked at some point and got a Simmons vent rib. What I can see of the vent rib in the pictures, it is not the "milled integral with the barrel" Remington vent rib used on Model 31TC Trap Guns and vent rib Model 31 12-gauge Skeet Guns.

Re: Model 31 F Grade
I am sorry, but I have to agree that this is not a factory "F" grade Remington 31. The engraving does not look anything like factory engraving I have seen on one other 31 "F" grades several years ago. Also the checkering style and pattern is quite different. Still a nice gun, but hard to put a value on a customized shotgun.
