Made 1908-1929 according to Remington, but they lingered on a few years past that in small numbers.
Post the Serial U..... to get the year if 1921 or later, ~193K+ they are date code stamped on the barrel. See Manufacture Date link off home page for details. If I've made a mistake someone who REALLY knows will correct me ;)

The shotgun that came to be known as the Remington Model 10 was introduced in the 1908-09 Remington Arms Co. catalogue as the "Remington Repeating Shotgun" --

Through the February 15, 1910, Remington price list the gun is called the Model 1908. In 1911, Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and his ammunition companies as Remington Arms -- Union Metallic Cartridge Co., and the gun became known as the Model No. 10. During WW-I time the company name got Inc. added. In 1920, the company name was changed again to Remington Arms Co., Inc.

The old factory ledger from Ilion that was started with the resumption of civilian arms production after WW-I, shows the first entry for Model 10 had reached serial number 172939 on Sept. 30, 1919. U was a Remington "stock letter" for this pump gun.

The guns are fine as long as they work, but there doesn't seem to be anyone left alive who can make one right once it gets out of whack.

There is virtually no interest or market demand for these old pumps unless in absolute mint condition or one of the higher grade hand engraved guns. Most average used Model 10 "Standard" Grades sell for $150 or less.

Remington dropped the use of the stock letters by the time they moved the receiver serial number from the bottom of the receiver in front of the loading port to the left side of the receiver. Your pictures are so tiny the first and third are impossible to read and number two just barely readable. If the serial number is in the 2595xx range, as it appears as best I can read it, your gun would be from February 1927 production.

The model 29 is the gun that replaced the Model 10.

I do not know for a fact but have been told that the trigger mechanism on the 10 was subject to wear and rendered it unsafe.

The difference in the 29 and the 10 was mainly the trigger mechanism.

The 10 will slam fire so please be careful.
