Remington Model 11 recoil spring

Post by Gamemaster32 »

Hello again:

I have a 16 gauge Model 11 that I believe may need a replacement recoil spring. When reassembling, there is virtually no downward pressure needed on the bbl in order to reinstall the forend.

Question:
Approximately how tall shoud the spring be when measured?

I understand a 12 gauge spring will not interchange with 16 gauge...but are 16 & 20 the same...or different?

TIA

Each gauge of the Remington Model 11/The Sportsman were built on there own guage specific frames. The uncompressed spring for my 16-gauge is 6 5/8 inch long. Laying it next to the 20-gauge spring, one can see that in addition to being smaller in diameter, the 20-gauge spring is made of slightly smaller square cross-section wire.

Thanks again for your help.

I've found several sources that list the spring, but to find who has an original Remington one in stock may be challenging.
