Greetings all,
This past weekend I shot my dad's 241 .22 in a competition and had some trouble with it. I was hoping someone here could shed some light on what's going on with it.
Problem 1- feeding malfunction. During rapid fire events, the next fresh round was not fed into the chamber as the action came forward. Also, the fresh round would be picked up and moved forward by the action, but it wouldn't be inline with the chamber. A crooked feed so to speak.
Problem 2- the spent case to be ejected gets hung up in the action, usually by the action moving forward and pinching it.
As information, the ammo I used for this event was Eley Club. I've also used Eley Practice and had the same result.
Thank you in advance for your input!

Model 241 problems
I'm not an expert on this rifle, but I would say your rifle was not made to function with standard velocity rounds. The problems you discribe can occur when a semi-auto action weapon short strokes due to insufficient energy to bring the bolt fully to the rear before it starts back forward. Try high velocity rounds and see if you have the same problems. Most huting rifles are not made to shoot both high velocity and standard velocity rounds. Compitition shooting may require standard velocity rounds. This is why most 22LR competition rifles are bolt actions. Give the high velocity rounds a try and let us know how it works out.
M/241
I agree with shot1too. The problem is probably with the standard velocity ammo. High velocity LRs will probably work with no problem. A thorough cleaning might also be in order. You have probably already done that...
The M/241 was chambered for 22 LR (LR Only) or 22 SHORT (not interchangeable). It was introduced after hign velocity 22 ammo was the norm so it was designed for those pressures.
