Re: MODEL 25 QUESTION
I don't know enough to doubt your answer, I'm new to Remington collecting.I have found those charts for post 1921 Remingtons that should have barrel dates but where do you look for guns built before 1921? What do the letters on the receiver above the serial number represent? Someone on here said RW stood for Reminngton Works? Well, who else would have built a Model 12 Remington? My model 25 has two A's above the number. I have a 14 and a 14 1/2 and they both have C's above the number. I'd appreciate any information on these letters, if anyone out there has any.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Try checking lower on the barrel......just above the action bar and just a little ahead of the receiver on the left-hand side. The date codes on my 25-20 are a little hard to see at first glance, too.....but they're there. Try using a magnifying glass if necessary.gastrap wrote:I have a model 25 in 32-20 and it has no barrel codes on it. It has two a's above the serial number.

Re: MODEL 25 QUESTION
I have seen quite a few early mod 25's that "should" fall into the barrel code era without any sort of a barrel code and have a couple myself. I would look up the sn,but they are buryed in the safe. It really isn't all that uncommon on the early ones even though the year indicates they should have the code.
