Hello,
I've got a nickeled over/under Remington deringer. From a previous post I understand that it was made in 1890-1911.
I've read that U.S. officers have it during WWII as a second gun, but I wonder if it's not a mistake. Wasn't during WWI ? Althoug I know that général Mac Arthur have the one of his father in his pocket.
Did someone have any informations about the unofficial use of this gun in the army ?
It's for me a collecting item, but I wanted to try it. I use new brand 41RF cartridges (black powder), but :
I have had 3 "long fire" for 5 shots with the lower barrel.
I have had no problem on 5 shots with the upper barrel.
I don't understand what happened . If it's a cartridge problem (powder), I don't understand why it always happened in the same barrel !
Any idea ?
Regards

I don't know which company make this cartridges (newly made). The seller say it's a french one. No marking on the box, except the weight of the bullet and of the powder (only 7,7 grains). They are not cheap : 60 euros the box of 25 !!!
Here in France we can found also Navy Arm cartridges, but I believe they are not black powder , and too strong for a deringer.
P.S. : sorry for my poor writing

I believe it was navy arms that did make a run of the ammo a while back and it may not have been black powder but it was loaded appropriately. Even that is now difficult to find. I had a stack of them and when the price got up to $250 a box I couldn't resist selling them. So 60 euros doesn't sound that far off...breizh wrote:I don't know which company make this cartridges (newly made). The seller say it's a french one.
