Hi, Folks!
I'm glad to be here in the Remington Society discussion forums and am wondering if some of you might be able to help me with my research project on John D. Pedersen.
For the past eight or so years I've been working on what you might call a "technical biography" on Pedersen and his attempt to develop a semi-automatic rifle for the United States military. Over the years I have gathered much information on Pedersen's designs, his patents, his court cases, and his "rivalry" with John C. Garand. I have examined the extensive collection of papers present at the Springfield Armory and have also examined many of the existing samples of his semi-automatic rifle.
My problem, however, is that I need to find some biographical information on Pedersen. I hope that this biographical data will be the "glue" that will hold my book together by presenting a portrait not merely of the firearms designer but of the man John D. Pedersen as well. I have checked more places than I have the time to list here, but I have been unable to locate much biographical information on Pedersen. I have found a few snippets of information here and there, but not enough to present a detailed study of this man's life. It almost appears as if this prominent firearms inventor was a phantom of sorts.
If any of you have any information or know where I might be able to locate a person who might be able to provide me with a few leads, I would appreciate hearing from you. You can get in touch with me as follows:

phone: 931-372-3360 (I'll call you back on my dime!)
Thanks very much,
Mike
Help with Research on John D. Pedersen
In my research on the model 14 rifle, I located some of the basic materials on Pederson such as his patents for the model 14. I found a little more information in a book titled "Hatcher's Notebook" by Julian S. Hatcher. It has a little more personal information. Hope this helps some. I would also check with the NRA. Best of luck.
