one more model 11 question
Have been looking at a model 11 at a pawnshop. It is old and brown and rough. Has the safety inside the triggerguard, roundknob grip, looks like the barrel may have been shortened. has the patent id on barrel and a Remington buttplate. However no markings what-so-ever on the frame/reciever. There is a number underneath on I believe the front of the trigger guard that looks like a part number (29973), no other markings of any kind. Pawn shop list it as a 10 ga. Anyone have any thoughts as to what it is?
Model 11
If it is truly a Remington ( other companies used this Browning Design) and the serial number is the 29xxx number it is probably a pre model 11 made in 1908. They called it "Automatic Shotgun" then and the receivers were not marked according to the catalogs. I have never heard of a 10Ga. and it was never advertised. As far as my catlog's go they were only made in 12 Ga. later in 16 & 20 Ga. I would check the bore at the shop. If it is a 10 then it's a rare bird if it's a Remington. Jay Huber RSA
