1100 matched pair set

Post by Guest »

Did all the 410, 28ga matched pair sets that were made in 1969 and 1970 have the gold inlay in the engraving? looking at a set to buy and wanted to make sure this is original. If not I would rather have one without the gold.
Thanks for your help

Since no one else has answered I'll venture my guess. I don't think any of them had gold but it was simply a popular thing to have done. Just a guess.

I didn't have a Remington catalog from 1969 0r 70, but I do have a Shooter's Bible fron 1971. It says: "Matched pair numbers gilded in gold and distinctively marked on the receiver. The guns came with a case. Hope that helps.

I have the "matched pair" and they do have gold inlays and a green hard case. Does anyone know what the case is supposed to be lined with. The green foam that I think it is supposed to have is gone. The foam just fell apart and was all stuck in the engraving, and everywhere else.
