Repeating in brief my answer to your question on another site...
If the barrel is 28" long round barrel, it's a 4-S. If it's shorter, it ain't a 4-S.
You don't mention whether you have just a barrel or a complete rifle. The configuration of the 4-S is completely different from the No. 4; not the working parts but the wood, sights, etc.

The "S" isn't like any I've seen. The saddle ring is an add-on. Repeat question but most important.....How long is the barrel????
