I'm looking for a replacement steel buttplate for my 720. Sometime in it's history someone dropped it and chipped the toe of the stock. So what did the butcher do? He filed down the bottom of the steel buttplate to match the wood instead of repairing the wood.
This is the plate from a 721 but it's aluminum. The 720 plate looks very similar but is steel. Did any other Remington guns utilize this style of buttplate in steel because locating one from a 720 is going to be tough.
The M141 & M121 also use that aluminum buttplate but the BP for the 513-T which is steel has identical configuration. 513-T BP's come in several different styles including a beautiful case colored serrated one that was also used on some of the M141 Carbines.
In any event the screw pattern is the same, should fit, and you might have to remove parkerizing before rebluing it but it would give you a steel buttplate if you have your heart set on it. I personally would go with the aluminum one since they are easier to find and with little effort and some Krylon paint they can be made to look new in just a few minutes.
