rEMINGTON 22 RIFLE whose action was made by kimber

Post by garysss »

Gentlemen:
I remember reading in one of the gun magizines what some time in the 50's or 60's Kimber of australia made the action for one of the inexpensive remington rifles. At that time I looked for the rifle in pawn shops to no avail. Well 20 years later I would like to again search for the rifle. I know it was not popular nor was it up to the par of Kimber, But now I can't find the article and have completely forgotten what the model number was.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Gary:

I have waited to see if anyone knew of the rifle you described. In the 50s Remington's primary inexpensive bolt action 22 rifles were the 500 series (510, 511, & 512) and the M/514 single shot. They were made in Ilion, NY. The only model I can think of that had parts made elsewhere was the M/525 which was made in Brazil. It was imported into Canada, but not the U. S.. It is seldom seen here.

Gary:

I believe you are talking about the Winchester model 320, which was an inexpensive .22 rifle from the early 70's. It was the inspiration for the Kimber .22 rifles, infact the Win 320 mags work in the Kimber .22s. There was also a single shot model called the 310.
