Help with serial number identification - please

Hi, I inherited a Remington Model 1100 from my father, when he passed away last year. Just giving it a good cleaning and curious as to the age, I know he had it for a lot of years? The serial number on the receiver is 209272V, and on the left side of the barrel it by the receiver, it has the letters AAPE. I tried to determine the date using the information on this site, I must be doing something wrong because I still cannot come up with a date. Can anyone help. Thanks...limey

hi, re-checked and it is stamped AAPE? maybe someone got stamp happy! thanks...limey

Hi Limey
According to Remington the 1100 started production in 1963. Since the barrel codes seem to be other than expected, you may want to call Remington at 800-243-9700 and provide them with your serial number. Call between the hours of 9-5 EST. They say they will provide the date of manufacture.
