.280?, detactable mag?
.280?, detactable mag?
im thinking about getting a mtn. rifle in .280 remington but im not sure about the detactable mag. has anyone had any problems with a DM before. (fall out, too lose, lot of play, etc) also how do you feel about .280?
280
My primary hunting rifle is a .280. It has a D M that I have had no problems with. I bought an extra to keep in my coat pocket...
I have chronographed handloads that are not very far behind the 7 mag. In my experience, the ballistics of the 7 mag are generally overstated. The noise and recoil of the 280 are also big improvements.

.280 is one of the best calibres out there
Mine is a 721 from 1953 rebarreled to .280 with a match grade fast twist (for heavier bullets) Donnely barrel. I stocked it with a Classic stock. Sights on barrel are just like on the 725's. I scoped it with a Leupold 3-9 with Warne thumbscrew QD rings on Weaver bases. Oh yeah and a decellerator pad.
