I have a Remington Model 6 rifle in .32 Caliber. The serial number range is 370000 and there is a BQ at the base of the barrel. The receiver is just stamped Model 6.
My question is in reference to the take down screw. Would anyone be able to tell me if there was a difference in the length of the screw through the various models and years of production for the Model 6? I am in desperate need of a replacement screw, but the one I have (from an Improved model 6 .22 cal in the 470000 serial number range) is too short to reach the threads of the barrel. From what I see there is a circle cutout in the reciever of the Imporved model that locks down the barrel, and on the other rifle that portion of the barrel that fits into the receiver is a rectangle. Is there a special screw length I need, and where can I get an original one?
Thank you.

The Model 6 and Improved Model 6 have virtually no parts in common. The one you need is approximately 1 3/8" long. I would check with the internet parts houses, online auctions, or at local gun shows. Sorry, I don't have any extras.
