rolling block shotgun

Post by guest »

I have a rolling block in 20g. The last visible patent date is sept 9, 1873 after that it has Jan and March dates with no visible year. I am unable to find this gun in any catalog. I contacted Remington 15 years ago and was told there are no records on this gun. It has a number under the foreend in the high 600's. There is also a dovetail under the foreend near the chamber with a tapped hole in front of it. The gun looks like a No. 1. The barrel is round and is 32 inches long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a Remington #1 Rolling Block, made from 1870-1890's. It is either #1 or #2. See Fladerman's guide to Antique American Firearms (5E-094 & 5E094.5)
