I have an question for you experts. I have a Remington .44 New Model Army .44 percussion. gvt. inspected, all original. 5 grove RH gain twist bbl. all marking sharp. action sharp. bore perfect. I mention this because where the threads of the bbl. meet the cylinder it is smooth. The threads should be showing, but in the 1/4 inch section right before it hits the cylinder, it is smooth, no threads. Now, the gun is pretty much untouched, and the bbl is not lined. . Has anyone else ever seen this? On the other .44's I've owned in the past, including a conversion, the threads were evident, but this is clean and smooth. The bbl. and all parts are original, showing the same wear.

It's 86903 under the bbl. nothing on the frame. The frame and the bbl have all the right government inspector markings, and They're sharp. I don't thing it's a Beals frame, because the section of the bbl. that should show threads is showing normally. It's just that the bbl. at that point, is smooth where it comes out of the frame for about 1/4 of an inch and the bbl. -cylinder gap is tight. No threads. It show all thr right age on the bbl. and as I said, the rifling is sharp and correct. Ken
