1865 pistol

i have a 44 cal. calvary pistol w/insignia on grip, it seems to be nickle plate six shot with the extractor missing. it was given to me as a momento from a 90 year old gentleman. any history or where parts can be obtained to restore. by the way the serial# is 1968

Try listing your question under pistols instead of rifles. You'll find folks who know more about the short guns there. Also give a better description if you can. Is it a Remington? What is the insignia? What does it say on the top of the barrel?
