I am no expert but from what I have read and learned they never sold it or called it a carbine but from 1962 to around the end of 1964 some calibers were made in only 20" barrels... 30-06 270 243 222 222REM MAG 280 and 6MM as far as I know.. I think that would be up to approximately 118000 serial number give or take a bit ....That's what I know about them .. I know there are few guys on the forum that know far more than I hopefully they will add to or correct my responce.. I only have 2 { carbines } a 270 and 243 both are of the most common calibers... Hope you get some more answers.. John

Your rifle was assembled in August of 1962 which puts it in the standard calibre short barrel time period. Not officially called a "carbine" by the manufacturer, but a name given by enthusiasts to differentiate the short/long barrel time line.

Well the serial# is right- the stock sounds right-and I belive the front sights were brazed on a lot of the larger calibers thru 1968 ... What caliber is yours ??? It sounds correct ... John

Well you have I think the most popular caliber and it would depend on condition but if it were pretty good say $400.00 to $650.00 but don't bank on that..... I will bett in 20 years the 20" barrel guns will be up a lot higher... That is if we still have our guns !!!!!!!!!!!!! John
