No.9 Single-Barrel Shotgun
In 1902, Remington announced the Remington No.9 Single-Barrel Shotgun (also known as the Remington Model 1902 Shotgun) to replace their highly successful No.3 single-barrel gun. Eventually this versatile, low-priced, $10ºº shotgun was offered in 10, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 28 gauges. Like the gun it replaced, it featured a plain, non-checkered, pistol-grip stock and fore-end, and a break-open design activated by a top-lever, and had a cocking lever on the left side of the case-hardened receiver. A total of 65,698 Remington No.9 shotguns were made between 1902 to 1910.
Major differences between the No. 3 and the No. 9 (AKA Model 1902):
No. 3 No. 9
Forearm release Push buttton release Screw release
Ejector Manual Self ejector

Patent dates associated: October 30, 1884 -- Patent # 528,507 & 528,508 issued to R.C. Fay & G. E. Humphreys
