The folks at Remington said to talk to you guys, so here goes. I recently bought a Rolling Block, .45-70, with a 28" half round/half octagonal barrel, buckhorn sights, nicely blued, with a serial number "692" located on the left side of the receiver. It has a "creedmore" engraving on the top of the barrel, under the mounting for the buckhorn sight. It also has the Remington engraving on the top of the grip, but although blued, it is so thin one can hardly read it. And it has a straight stock grip, not a pistol grip. This almost looks like a rebarrel job, but this ain't cobbed. It looks like something that may have been done at the factory, but I have no idea, really. I bought this gun to enjoy and to shoot, so, as that washed up actor from LA says, I CAN handle the truth. Any ideas on what this might be? THANKS you guys.

it's a Rolling Block, but help needed

I wrote the following to Remshots on your gun.
I discussed this with Jerry McCaul a single shot RSA member and
we came to the conclusion it is probably a made up gun from
Numrich Arms parts and perhaps an original military No 1
Receiver, but we are not sure. Pictures might help. Jay

what rolling block is this?
Thanks very much, Jay. I would appreciate some background info on exactly what a Numrich is, as I'm new to this. And I will try to get a photo posted asap. Any other questions you might have, I'll be glad to answer. Thank you kindly for the help.

Gary-
Numrich Arms is a parts dealer. They have been around for a long time. They have a wide variety of parts for a wide variety of guns, new, used, obsolete, etc.
Here is a link to their site: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/
Esentially, the opion was that the rifle was probably made up from parts from various, unrelated sources, perhaps all purchased from Numrich Arms or possibly assembled by Numrich Arms and sold as a complete gun.
