Need Some Help with some New to Me Remington's 12A, Model 8

Post by Teacher Todd »

I have inherited some rifles that were my Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers.

The first is a Remington Model 12a I believe. Round barrel, peep sights, Serial 2672xx In very good Condition looks like this one is from 1913 or 1914

The Second is a Model 8 .30 caliber. Serial 4944xx Looks like this a 1924 era.

Then two 721's a 270 and 300 H&H Magnum

270 serial 1423xx I believe this is a 1950 era

300 serial 2544xx I believe this a 1952 era

Anything you can tell me about them or their value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd

You can look up the barrel codes from this link if they're made after 1921.

Some of the 721/722/725 serial numbers are listed in this link to:

http://www.remingtonsociety.com/forums/ ... ?f=5&t=410

Values are not given on the forum because they're subjective to condition of the firearms and are not able to be inspected.

Take care of them and pass them on to future generations of your family.

I have a 721 in 300 H & H and I love it. I put an older Redfield 3 X 9 scope on it and I have gotten near 1" groups @ 100 yards with 180 gr Hornady handloads in front of 67 grs IMR 4350. It chronos @ 2860- 2875 fps, a reasonably mild speed. I haven't tried to make it a target gun. Anything under 1 1/2" for me is just fine.
