Model 722
I just got a Remington model 722, it was my grandpa's and he left it to me. Anyway, he's always called it a 6mm and i know that the 6mm and .244 are really the same thing but i was just wondering which one it really is. It's serial number is 3828xx. Another thing i found odd was that it has no other markings on the barrel except in small text it does say 244. But thats it, there's no letters or anything. So I guess i was wondering when you think it was made and to confirm that it is actually a .244 and not a 6mm, because if it is a .244 then it will have a twist rate of 12:1 right? Anything is helpful!
Re: Model 722
With no factory barrel marks, it must be a re-barrel. Yes 244 and 6mm are the same.
Check the twist with a cleaning rod and a tight patch. Measure the rods length traveled in one complete turn.
