Early Remington Smoot Question
Early Remington Smoot Question
I have a question on an early Smoot. It is stamped with the number "1", the information that I was given was that this was specifically a serial number "1". I would like to have this looked at for value and perspective. I am new to this board and look forward to hearing from someone with expertise on this. Thank you in advance.

Re: Early Remington Smoot Question
This is not the first Smoot. It is however the first of the second model. Approx 2102 made. Announced date of sale was Oct. 1878 where as the first model was introduced in 1875. Most were Nickel plated and could be 30 rf cal or 32 rf cal., it is most likely 30rf. The number appears to be the correct style. I can't see the other side which should have the ejector assy. Price would depend on the condition, does it work properly? bore? original parts? grips? ( don't seem to fit properly) and of course finish, amount of original nickel, rust etc. etc. etc. Jim
