[quote="Wulfman"]While following this thread, I've been wondering what the definition of "vintage" is. ;)

30, 40, 50 yrs.?

To me it would be at least pre-war (WWII, not Gulf war). I like other terms better...

It seems most people think of vintage as basically their own age or older. In my case that would be anything fifties or older, while I have a preference for 1930s stuff.

I have no problem with it meaning different things to different people. To me, vintage connotates more of a feeling than some hard and fast rule based thing. If a 13 year old kid feels vintage with his dad's 30 year old rifle that seems modern to me, thats just fine.

I'll be taking the family heirloom model 14 in 35 Rem into the woods while my 11 year old son tries for his first deer with a model 14 25 Rem.

Got a picture of that 720? I just got one at auction in30-06 but the stock has been refinished, wondering what an original looks like.

Hello All:

First post!

I'll be taking my new (to me) Model 14 in .35 Rem. It has a King semi-buckhorn, and a folding Marbles peep on it. It's a "C" model rifle.

We have a group of us who hunt together on drives, and several use older or vintage rifles. This gun strikes me as a perfect, short-range, brushy-drive type of gun. I've never been fond of lever guns, and have been looking for a suitable old pump for a while. I found this one at a local gun show last spring, and was able to work a decent deal on it.

I'm still trying to figure out the different sight options- having no real experience with peep sights- so I might have some questions at some point. I'm looking forward to reading some info and getting the old girl ready for the season.
