870 - Detent & Magazine Cap

You can drill the barrel ring and install a detent, but an 'O' ring will work fine. If I remember right a3/32" or 1/8" cross section is about right. Must be a pretty new barrel, because all of them I have seen, including mine, have the detent. I detest that new sawtooth plastic magazine cap/spring retainer Remington has gone to instead of the old arrangement which worked great for 50+ years.
