My father is a retired Lieutenant with the Arkansas State Police who recently acquired one of his service weapons. It is a Remington Model 11, 12-gauge shotgun, serial number 423295. Above the serial number, the gun is stamped POLICE GUN - PROPERTY OF ARKANSAS STATE POLICE. There is a part screwed or slid onto one end of the barrel which may be covering up information on the barrel that would help determine when the gun was produced, inspected and repaired. We did not feel comfortable trying to remove this part.
On one side of the barrel, to the left of the gun part referenced above, appears the following markings: KK <> and then either the capital letter L or I. The gun part makes it difficult to tell which letter, and this part may be covering up additional letters or other markings.
On the other side of the barrel, to the right of the gun part, appears the following markings: R.E.C. and then a 3-leaf clover. If there are any additional markings to the left of R.E.C., they are also covered by the gun part.
I was unable to take clear photos of these markings. I do have photos of the gun fully assembled, the gun barrell, the serial number, and the stamped lettering.
My dad and I would like to know when this gun was manufactured, and when and how many of these guns were manufactured for or issued to the Arkansas State Police.
Any assistance you can provide is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

"It is a Remington Model 11, 12-gauge shotgun, serial number 423295."
Serial Number should place it as made Dec. 1939 according to the ledger.
