This is a great question. I've collected 22 Remington rifles for about five years now and really can't find a guide to numbers that is valid.
Maybe when the Rem. Society research team has gone through enough records in Ilion they can publish some numbers. In the mean time ask Remington.

I posted the same question to them on April 8, 2003 and have had no response. I was thinking that if anyone had the information that they would. I also am curious as to the production numbers of the lightweight Model 572's. The buckskin tan must be the most common by the price asked/offered. The black and blue models seem to be rarer but I've not seen production numbers. Maybe you can help me?
