Could you please help me figure out what this Rem Mod 12 gun really is?
I have not tried to dis-asemble
Mod 12 receiver with serial 679679
No barrel date codes that I can find
Round barrel (18.25 to receiver, 19.5 to breach opening)
Four allen screws around receiver holding barrel on
Front sight has cursive type "Micro" label
Marbles rear sight
Butt stock shaped like on a 12C except without curved butt plate
Butt plate plane with no label
Front forend stock has an extra groove? Could this be original?
Remington label is on top of barrel in front of rear sight, very worn, is not the fancy Remington label I've seen on other Mod 12s usually behind rear sight
Please see pics

It looks like a 12-C butt stock on a 12-A with a replacement butt plate.. The fore-arm does not have the grooves in the places I have seen. My guess is that it is a replacement. The barrel was not held in place by allen screws when it left the factory. The sights have been replaced. By the serial # your M/12 was made in or near 1927. It should have a barrel code, probably two digit ending in "U".

Wow! You have a lot going on here. I think that you you have a 12 that someone did a lot of modifications too. I believe your gun was ofiginally a 12-C judging by the rear stock and the leingth of the magazine tube. A spacer was made to fill the crescent butt plate. The marbles sight were an option or you cann call it an upgrade that was offered. The rear half buckhorn sight is nice. The barrel and forend look like aftermarket parts and thats probably why your not finding a date code.

I got a chance to look at this on my computer and not my phone. Thats not even a Remington barrel. Looks like a Marlin model 81??? That would explain the allen bolts on the reciever. Barrel probably didnt match quite right.
