I just purchased a tired old (What I think is a) Remington 11. I have a few of these but am totally stumped by this one.
Receiver marked: Fabrique Nationale Herstal-Liege, Belgium - Browning Patents. Serial #63XX. Left sde of receiver does NOT have the magazine cartidge stop like the Browning A5. Also, there are no locking screws anywhere on it.
Barrel is Marked "Model 11" "the Remington Arms Union Metalic CTG. Co Inc, Remington Ilion Wrks Ilion , N.Y.
Full choke. There are no date stamps on the barrel that I can find. Barrel S# is 226468.
Stock is the straight type with no pistol grip and no checkering.
One thing that I can't figure out is the ejector is the double finger type like the Browning A5, not the single finger type like the Remington and Savage.
Just what the heck is this thing? Frankenstein? Very early?

Re: Remington 11 ID help.
Sounds like some industrious gunsmith reworked a Remington barrel to operated on a very early Browning A5 action. The Company name was Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co. from 1911 to 1920, before the use of date codes commenced. In 1920 the company name became Remington Arms Co., Inc.

Re: Remington 11 ID help.
Thanks for the info! It looks like I have an FN Browning A5 made 1904 That has had a Remington barrel added to the original barrel extension. I suppose the chances of finding an original barrel is slim to none but oh well, I'll fix it up best I. It will add to it's caracter. I just found this site and it is a great site fo rinfo. I'll have to post up pics of my Browning A5,Remington 11 and Savage 720 collection I have started.
