Hi Forum, I am new to shotguns and have a question regarding shooting slugs. What is the mamimum level of barrel choke that can be safely used when shooting slugs.
I have a Remington 870, 20" barrel stamped with "IMP CYL" which I assume is improved cylinder. Will this barrel and level of choke safely handle slug shooting?
Thanks much for your advice.....

There are many types of slugs made today. In gereral, the standared lead slug of old can be fired through any choke; however the solid copper type rounds are not recommended for smooth bore shotguns. I recommend you check the box the ammunition comes in to see what the factory says.
