Hello
I have had my 597 for a long time and I really like the way it shoots. its a tack driver.
I dont like the way it jams.
When using CCI hollow point every about every 3 shell casing fails to eject from the chamber and then becomes jammed as the next round is attempting to be loaded. The extractor is indeed pulling the shell from the breach but the shell some how fails to make it out of the ejection port and ends in floating around in the chamber as the bolt slams back onto it.
Its not just with CCI ammo its everything BUT: Ball, and hyper-velocity stuff like stinger..I would just use stinger ammo but for some reason it will not pattern and I don't like ball ammo for varmint hunting.
Im guessing the ball ammo and stinger ammo both feed well because of the extra kick added to the bolt which in turn kicks the spent shell out at a different angle thus clearing the ejection port and the rifle.
Im also pretty sure every 597 owner who hasn't made some type of modification has this exact problem.
SO
What do I have to do to this rifle so it will feed hollow point ammo?
Thank you for your help
