BRITISH ARMY REMINGTON REVOLVERS...ANY RECORDS?

Post by fantomark »

Hi!

I would be interested to know if there are any records for Remington Revolvers being issued (or privately purchased in case of officers) to the British Army in the period c.1870-1900 in their Colonial campaigns in Africa, India , or used by the British forces in Canada.

If yes, any information about models and calibers would be really very welcome.

I am aware that virtually any revolvers could be privately purchased by Victorian period officers (who not unfrequently did even take their hunting shotguns to the battlefield!) , but as I understand, most officers on active service tended to favour revolvers available in British standard calibres , in order to get easier ammunition supplies in the field.

Thanks to all of you Remigton experts!

Cheers!
