I will describe it the best I can.
On the top of the octagon barrel it is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION NY”. On the bottom of the barrel it is stamped “22” and what looks like a serial number of “97661”. It has what looks like a “7” stamped on the barrel under the forearm stock. From the receiver to the tip of the octagon barrel it is 22” long. It is approximately 37.25” long overall.
I believe it is a #4 Rolling Block Rifle but my book says the barrel should be 22.5” long? It appears to be a hardwood walnut stock? The front sight blade is fixed, but I am unsure if the rear sight can be moved? I did not want to mess with it for fear of breaking something. There are no marks on or under the stock butt plate. We would appreciate any information you could provide us with. Not really interested in value of this one, its not going anywhere, but would like to know what model and date of manufacture if known? I tried to add pics, but each one is to big.
Thank you very much for your time, consideration and knowledge. Tim
