Society Newbe
Waaaaay to old to be called a newbe at anything.Been honing a "useful" knowledge of a couple Rem 700's the past year. SPS in 308., and a 308. Varmint. The SPS has developed into a real tack driver--sadly the Varmint hasn't exhibited the the expected excellence--but I think we are getting closer. Glad to be here--always benefit from others experience. Oh yea,, Florida transplant ! Kansas born !

What have you done to your varmint 308 to improve the accuracy? I have the same gun just wondering. I was thinking bedding the action and free floating the barrell.

Your best option is to try every ammo you can before you start digging at the stock. The stock left the factory with a pressure point for a reason. Owning gobbs of vintage 700s I have never had to modify any stocks or actions. And would never purchase a rifle that has been bedded. I know there is always room for a lemon, but the Remington 700 is known to be the most accurate rifle out of the box.
