My dad gave me a Remington 1889 double barrel hammer 12 gauge, it is great condition other than the ear that the forearm snaps onto, between the barrels is broke off and missing. Does anyone out there have a model 1889, where they could shoot a photo and take some measurements?
Thanks

Matt.
That lug was originally solder in place. Is the piece missing or broke off?
A picture would help then I can tell you what you need.I have replaced some.

Re: Remington 1889
I have a Question also about a 1889 Remington shotgun. I have one that was a bank guard gun it was manufactured in 1906 with fuild barrels. Has 20 in barrels, under the forearm by the receiver on the bottom each barrel it is mark 20 F with a arrow pointing toward the receiver. My Question is did Remington make on special order 20 inch barrels for banks or guard guns??

Re: Remington 1889
I haven't found any Remington Arms Co. catalogues that offer doubles with barrels less then 26-inches. However, right from the introduction of the Remington Autoloading Gun in 1905, it was offered in a Riot version with a 20-inch barrel. So, it seems reasonable Remington may have made 20-inch doubles. There is no way to "prove" the barrels left Ilion, NY, 20-inches, and it is more likely they were hacksawed later.

The markings on bottom of barrels are 20 F on each barrel, the barrel end look factory not hacked ?????????
Thanks for the info.
