Model 1100 dates

Post by trcounty »

I have a Model 1100 with serial no. 78219X. Remington says that I am
missing a number but that is all that is stamped on the receiver and the
barrel (Mod) does not have a date code either. Does anyone you have any information
on when this was manufactured?
That number is stamped on the bottom left side at the rear of the receiver. I assume that that is the serial number. If not, where would it be found?

Does this help?
If there is no letter prefix on the serial number, it would indicate that it was made between 1963 and 1968 (approx.).

What Wulfman has told you is 100% correct except that they started in '63 instead of '64. Remington has recently told a few people that the 1100s started with six (6) digit serial numbers. This is obviously incorrect, as I have a five (5) digit as well, so does one more gentleman I know, and I once had a four (4) didgit serial number. It appears their staff has lost some info. They wanted the other fellow to take a picture of his serial number. I seem to remember from somewhere that they started with serial # 1111.
What could have happened... did.

Thank you for that information.

I have edited my posts on the forum with that information and also the file I saved it to on my computer.

I managed to locate the original source where I found that information (on another forum). As you can see, the poster claims to have gotten it from Remington......so, I had no reason to question its accuracy.

I had searched this website for a comprehensive list, but couldn't find one. So I saved that one in hopes that it would help others coming to this website/forum as that type of question seems to come up fairly frequently here.

If anybody else has any other changes that need to be made to it, please let me know.
